The Renowned Musician Urges Backing to Send Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A charity drive is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project aims to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
A Possibility for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.
“It occupies a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced following a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.
The notable list of performers contributing to Lullaby includes a group of acclaimed names from the scene. All participated in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was produced by a team of talented individuals. The track features a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The organizers behind the project have clarified that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These resources will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.
“There is no a specific target,” a spokesperson commented. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The situation in the area was described as its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of property said to be levelled or seriously harmed.
“In that context, a few million won't make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The track is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a digital service from the 19th of December.
