One of the original creators of the famous frozen dessert company Ben & Jerry's has claimed that parent company the multinational conglomerate stopped the launch of an innovative Palestine-themed frozen dessert product.

The entrepreneur, that established the company alongside his partner, disclosed how he will independently develop this new product within an individual collection highlighting issues the company has been barred from speaking out about.

Longstanding Dispute Between Creators versus Parent Company

The recent development escalates the ongoing tension among the internationally recognized ice cream maker with its corporate parent, the UK-based packaged goods giant which acquired Ben & Jerry's since 2000.

The co-founders have asserted how the parent company and their ice cream division Magnum improperly prevented Ben & Jerry's from "maintaining its activist principles".

The Fruit Flavor becoming a Symbol of Solidarity

The entrepreneur stated through social media that he is creating a new watermelon-flavored sorbet, asking for consumer ideas regarding the product's name plus potential ingredients.

“I'm doing what they couldn't,” Mr. Cohen stated from a cooking set. “I'm creating a watermelon-flavored frozen dessert that advocates for permanent peace in Palestine while demanding repairing the damage that was done there.”

This particular fruit has emerged as an emblem of solidarity with the Palestinian people because of its colors, that closely resemble those of Palestine's national banner – red, green, black and white.

Historical Activism plus Current Developments

Several years ago, Ben & Jerry's refused to sell its products in areas occupied by Israel, resulting in Unilever transferring their Israel business over to a local licensee, thus allowing ongoing distribution within the occupied West Bank.

The new dessert series is being created through Ben's Best, the socially conscious dessert company that was first established in 2016 for endorsing ex- political contender Bernie Sanders with the product "Bernie's Return".

Management Shifts and Upcoming Intentions

The founder revealed how he plans to create other ice cream flavors focusing on issues which the company was prevented from addressing publicly due to Unilever.

The announcement comes after co-founder Mr. Greenfield stepped down from Ben & Jerry's recently, following decades with the organization, citing worries regarding how the company's autonomy was undermined after Unilever's decision to restrict its social activism.

Previously, Ben Cohen commented that "Jerry has strong compassion and the ongoing dispute with Unilever was deeply distressing him."

"My heart leads me to continue to work within the organization to fight for corporate autonomy ensuring that the company can achieve the social mission, the values which established its foundation while upholding for over 40 years," he told media outlets.
