Scott Derrickson's locked-room horror remains effective despite the lack of a follow-up. Located in the late 70s in Denver, multiple child abductions has rendered the youth anxious. The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the battle between God and Mammon, it's a knockout win for Mammon in this director's wonderfully garish true story regarding the shamed televangelist and her criminal husband. Garfield plays the corrupt Bakker, who proclaims at the beginning, “God does not want us to be poor,”. Both individuals begin profiting from the people's Christian beliefs. It's a riot of tacky decor, bad makeup and insincerity, yet Jessica Chastain achieves to show Tammy Faye in a likable light. October 14th, late night, the Film4 channel
