Netflix Casts Ideal Performer for Bon Clay in One Piece Upcoming Installment

The Secret Organization is poised to play a huge role in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the major clash isn’t set to occur until the third season, and a beloved, popular member has just been cast.

The streaming service revealed Tuesday that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Bon Clay. Bon Clay has the ability to morph into an exact copy of any person they’ve made contact with with their right hand. The performer, who is identifies as non-binary and goes by they/them, will depict a rendition of that role reinterpreted as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag artist, in the real-life adaptation, as in the initial comic and animated series.

The new cast member is joined by several other recently announced actors tasked with bringing the group to the screen, including head the main antagonist, brought to life by the well-known actor, a talented actress as another operative, and an accomplished actor, who will appear as the ensemble as the monarch of Alabasta.

Even though Bon Clay is a major member of the group, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece season 3. Considering the next season likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this represents a notable change in the schedule of their first appearance, one that could signal additional alterations to the plot development.

Their mix of sharp comedic timing and emotional depth makes them a ideal selection for the character. Besides their current animated role in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and numerous honors for penning and acting in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, emphasizing the range they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s most celebrated characters.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece program is due to premiere for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
