Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a significant and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
