Stateside actor Pat Finn, who featured in iconic television series such as "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in LA recently having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, according to media reports.

"He never met a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family stated in a message.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific Television Career

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He starred as Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, playing a party host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of hit series, including:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

He was most recognized for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series between 2011 and 2018.

His cinematic roles include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Outside of his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe called "Beer Shark Mice".

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.

Offering condolences, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted publicly.

The actor is survived by his wife Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
