Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his position after a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the team's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points obviously but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular conversations we have I sense the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

The manager lamented recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a period of this nature with performances this poor.”

He finished, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until it is removed, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
